Fun Friday: Who's Your Favorite U.S. President?

Theodore RooseveltWho is your favorite U.S. President?

We don’t need to go 8th grade essay format on this one, I’m just curious to know.

Although I don’t necessarily agree with all of his economic policies, mine is Theodore Roosevelt.

Some quick points about ‘ol Teddy:

  • 26th President of the U.S.
  • Medal of Honor winner
  • Leader of the ‘Rough Riders’
  • Nobel Peace Prize winner
  • Advocate for the ‘little guy’

One time, as he was campaigning in Wisconsin, Roosevelt was shot while standing at the podium delivering a speech. Here’s how he responded,

“Ladies and gentlemen, I don’t know whether you fully understand that I have just been shot; but it takes more than that to kill a Bull Moose.”

He then proceeded to deliver the speech. 90 minutes later, he went to the hospital.

His motto: “Speek softly. Carry a big stick.” <- Love it.

Your turn.

Briefly, tell me who your favorite president is. Please leave your reply in the comments below.

He also once rode a swimming bull moose. It doesn’t get more awesome than that.

My Bachelor’s is in History and I minored in Political Science. Hands down my favorite president is Abraham Lincoln. From his Gettysburg Address to how he ran his office completely fascinates me. Random fact about Lincoln is that he suffered from depression because of the early death of his son. He actually had his sun dug up after he was buried because he wasn’t convinced that he was actually dead.

Oh wow! That’s beautiful and creepy all at the same time.

Great choice. Have you read his autobiography?
